Ways of Seeing, 2025

“Ways of Seeing” is a large-scale interactive kaleidoscope created by Lucy Barker and Jane Gillings for Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi 2025. The kaleidoscope is housed within the top tier of 24 x recycled 44 gallon drums and is operated by the audience spinning the top row of drums. The audience is invited to play and experiment, and collaborate with each other to complete the artwork. Each turn of the kaleidoscope reflects the changing, fragmented nature of our world but also reveals how moments of effort and intention can transform into something beautiful and unique.
