Lifestyles of the Neither Rich Nor Famous

Solo exhibition, The Art Factory, Maitland Regional Art Gallery
11th Nov 2011 – 19th Feb 2012,

Luminous picture postcard holiday memories are woven out of colourful vintage chair webbing.

The Art Factory consists of a traditional gallery space upstairs and a special space dedicated to children downstairs. Downstairs children get to interact one on one with the ideas and processes used by the artist upstairs. As part of the downstairs experience I created a movie projection documenting the making of the central piece upstairs, a giant 6m w x 2 m h sunrise woven out of vintage chair webbing. The audience is encouraged to take their own photo in front of the work, (using the camera provided) so they become special guests in the movie which I will updated throughout the show and now live on my YouTube channel.

This show coincides with my 3rd consecutive representation at Sculpture By The Sea in which I am using the same material; vintage polypropylene chair webbing.
